Privacy Policy

This page is maintained by the Knowiz team to explain what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. It is not a certification or independent audit.
Who Knowiz is for
Knowiz is intended only for students with a verified college or university email address. You must be enrolled at a supported college or university and verify your identity using a valid institutional (.edu or equivalent) email address to use the service.
Information we collect
- Account info you provide via Google sign-in: your institutional email, name, and profile picture. We request only the OpenID Connect scopes (openid, email, profile). We cannot read your Gmail, Drive, or Calendar.
- Profile you add on Knowiz: username, school, bio, pitch, ticker, avatar, goals, and milestones.
- Activity on the platform: trades, watches, follows, milestone votes, and notifications.
- Technical data from your device: browser, IP, and basic usage events used to keep the service running and improve it.
How we use your information
- Verify that you are a real, currently enrolled college or university student.
- Operate the simulation — show profiles, run trades, compute leaderboards.
- Secure accounts and prevent abuse, multi-accounting, and market manipulation.
- Improve features through aggregated, de-identified analytics.
- Communicate important account, security, or product updates.
Visibility of your profile and stock
Knowiz has two phases:
- Preview Mode — before you launch your stock. Your profile is not listed in the market, leaderboards, or search, and other users cannot invest in you.
- Launched — once you choose to launch your stock, your profile and stock page become publicly viewable on the web at your ticker's URL so that other Knowiz users (and anyone with the link) can decide whether to invest.
Publicly visible fields on a launched profile include: name, ticker, university, bio, pitch, avatar, public goals, verified milestones, current stock price, and market cap.
The following are never public: your email address, authentication credentials, notification preferences, portfolio holdings and cash balance, private account settings, and any internal moderation data.
Service providers
We use trusted third parties to host the app, store data, handle Google authentication, and measure product usage. These providers process data on our behalf under their own security and privacy commitments.
Data retention & account deletion
We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete Account. When you do:
- Your stock is delisted and can no longer be traded.
- Investors holding your shares are refunded at the current price.
- Your personal profile, goals, milestones, and notifications are removed.
- Historical market data may be retained only in anonymized form where necessary for market integrity.
Your choices
- Edit or remove most profile info from your Profile page.
- Delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete Account.
- Email support@knowiz.site for any privacy request you can't complete in-app.
Disclaimer
Knowiz is a virtual prediction market for educational and community purposes. Stock prices represent market confidence within the Knowiz platform and do not reflect a person's objective value, financial worth, or future success.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be communicated in-app.
